Nortel selects Unique Communications CAIRS product as a Nortel Select Product
Las Vegas, NV. ? December 1, 2005 ? Nortel selects Unique Communication's CAIRS Network
Management System (NMS) for multi-switch network
management. CAIRS OSS simplifies network management by
providing Nortel customers a non-technical, user-friendly
interface for Moves, Adds, Changes (MAC), Work-flow, Subscriber
and Inventory Management. CAIRS administers both Meridian
SL-100 (SL-100) and MG 1000M systems from a single interface.
While most Network Management Systems
offer expertise on a particular Nortel platform,
CAIRS provides expertise for the SL-100, CS
1000 and Media Gateway 1000M (MG 1000M)
systems. Whether you manage 1 or 100
Nortel switches, CAIRS simplifies
management by providing an identical
provisioning interface for switching platforms
and their network assets, offering a single
provisioning interface for time consuming, and
tedious provisioning tasks. Through an easy-touse
graphical interface, CAIRS streamlines
provisioning for multiple switching platforms
and multiple set types (IP, Digital, ISDN, and
Analog) into a single screen. To ensure
complete database synchronization, CAIRS
runs nightly database comparisons to find any
discrepancies between CAIRS database and
the switch.
High MAC Performance
The CAIRS provisioning interface offers the
ability for multi-users to complete MAC
requests simultaneously. CAIRS provides a
provisioning scheduler that allows technicians
to determine the date and time a desired MAC
will occur. Managers can easily view how
many MAC events are scheduled and
completed. CAIRS offers many "must-have"
features, designed to simplify and reduce the
duration of the MAC process, including:
• Enables full telephony functionality in
Microsoft CRM IC agent-desktop including
softphone controls, caller identification and
screen population.
• Provision IP, Digital and Analog sets across
multiple Nortel systems from one screen
• Create set templates with standard
configuration/features
• Auto assign next available DN/TN/LEN
• Automatic feature cross compatibility
assignment when moving sets from an M1
to an SL-100 and vise versa
Graphical
Provision Interface
The Graphical Provision Interface offers a set
template configuration tool to create set
templates that manage feature packages,
physical buttons, software buttons, and virtual
features.
Key FeaturesKey Features:
In addition to managing the MAC process,
CAIRS also provides a full range of inventory
and asset management features.
Intelligent Feature Management
Managing Set and Key features requires
system knowledge and expertise. Each
feature can require additional dependent
features or additional information to function
correctly. CAIRS takes the difficultly of
assigning features out of the provisioning
process. As sets are configured, dependent
features are automatically added, eliminating
the requirement for users to memorize a long
list of features that required other features to
function! When a feature requires more
information to function correctly, CAIRS guides
the user through an information gathering
process until the assignment is completed.
Work Flow Management
CAIRS provides a complete work flow management system to allow enterprises with
demanding work loads to create electronic
work order and trouble ticket routes that can
be dispatched to move between work groups
until work completion. The work flow
management system is dynamically integrated
into the CAIRS database allowing work groups
to access and update database tables from a
single work order. Data tables include:
subscriber, switch/PBX, inventory, billing, and
cable.
Subscriber Management
The CAIRS Subscriber/Directory Management
system provides a flexible relational
architecture to easily manage the
subscriber/directory database. Subscriber data
is automatically updated as adds, moves,
deletes and changes are made through the
provisioning or work flow modules. The
system offers a global reporting interface,
which allows users to generate reports (ad-hoc
and standard) and make global changes to the
subscriber database. The subscriber record
provides a comprehensive view of the
completed make-up of the service listing:
directory, billing, equipment, connectivity, and
switch data. Directory data can be easily
shared with other enterprise applications
through XML file creation and database
connections (LDAP, ADO.NET, OLE DB, and
ODBC).
Inventory Management
The inventory management module provides
an easy-to-use, on-shelf and installed
inventory tracking system. As work orders and trouble tickets are completed, inventory levels
automatically deduct and increase depending
on the order type. The system automatically
notifies administrators when the on-shelf
inventory item drops below the safety stock
level. Through the inventory system, users
can create stock orders to order new
equipment from vendors. Detailed Vendor
mailing and billing addresses are maintained.
Each inventory item can contain
a one-time and recurring cost. When work
orders are executed, the billing total and taxes
for each item are automatically calculated.
Scalability
Based on a Windows 2003 Server
architecture, the CAIRS platform is highly
scalable to meet administration needs for
smaller networks containing a few switching
systems, or large networks containing a host
of switching systems scattered around the
continent. CAIRS OSS is an easy way to
wrap voice management into one platform
while simultaneously reducing staffing needs.
