Performance Management

CAIRS OSS Performance Management Module

CAIRS OSS provides a work load distribution-reporting interface. Administrators can easily create reports on workload distribution, completion durations, and service performance. In addition, administrators can make network changes, test network changes, view the total service order requests in process, and estimated completion status.

CAIRS OSS allows threshold limits to be set on system events and/or call detail records. One example of TMS thresholds is the detection of authorization-code abuse. An example is on the MSL-100 PBX, which produces an IBN110 auth-abuse event everytime an end user attempts to authenticate a call via an invalid authorization-code. When the same user generates six (6) IBN110 events within a one (1) minute time frame, CAIRS OSS fault module would then trigger on the threshold events and notify the appropriate authorities on the possibility of an end-user attempting to find an authorization-code using an incremental trial and error search method.

CAIRS OSS also allows telecommunication personnel to set thresholds on any number of like System Events within a customer definable time frame. To expand on our MSL-100 authorization-code abuse example, if an unauthorized user was successful in getting an authorization-code and distributed/sold that code to multiple people, the TMS would use the toll fraud monitor to alert the authorities that an authorization-code is being used simultaneously from multiple stations. This process allows telecom personnel to set thresholds limits against virtually any CDR call scenario. (e.g. A toll fraud job could be setup to search all long-distance authorization code calls in the last 24 hours and if any authorization-code exceedes 10 usage, email and/or SNMP notifications would be sent identifying the abusive codes.) System event and toll fraud jobs are customer definable on an hourly, daily, weekly or monthly schedule.

CAIRS OSS produces detailed statistics in 30-minute increments on all system trunk groups within the network. The traffic monitoring and utilization capabilities of CAIRS OSS allows the provisioning engineers to perform long/short term traffic analysis on all system trunk groups. CAIRS OSS graphics package also allows for color-coded trunk groups with utilization labels to be displayed on a detailed network alarm map.

Additional traffic reports include:

- Announcements (ANN)
- Attendant Consoles (ATD)
- Automatic Call Distribution (ACD)
- Conference Circuit (CNF)
- Hunt Groups (HNT)
- Line Modules (LMD)
- Office Traffic (OFZ)
- Remote Switching Centers
- Subscriber Line Usage (SLU)
- Switch Performance Monitoring
- Uniform Call Distribution (UCD)
- Virtual Facility Groups (VFG)

Compiled traffic reports provide system management with short and long-term traffic trending statistics. These are essential for proper provisioning and maintenance of trunk groups, lines modules and remote switching sites.
