Unique Communications Demonstrates Multi-Vendor NG9-1-1 Interoperability with CAIRS9-1-1 Across NIWC Laboratories

Charleston, SC — August 2026 — Unique Communications has successfully completed an end-to-end Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) test using its CAIRS9-1-1 System at the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic laboratory in Charleston, South Carolina.

Unique Communications offers a suite of CAIRS software solutions focused on mission-critical telephony and communications, with CAIRS9-1-1 at the forefront of its work advancing NG9-1-1 capabilities and interoperability. This demonstration builds on a previous successful end-to-end test conducted at NIWC Pacific using Avaya and MicroAutomation. The latest test at NIWC Atlantic used Cisco and Motorola.

“This testing was important because it allowed us to validate the entire NG9-1-1 call flow in a DOW laboratory environment and demonstrate interoperability across different vendor combinations,” said Brandon Arthur, Unique Communications Lead 911 Engineer, who led the testing. “As someone who participates on NENA i3 committees, I see this type of hands-on testing as an important part of aligning technology with standards as they evolve. I was pleased to see the system function reliably in this extreme test environment.”
